GPIB-ENET/100 Fails "ibtsta" on Solaris 8

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET/100, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>GPIB-ENET/100

Problem:
My GPIB ENET-100 fails the ibtsta verification test with an error of ENEB. I can see my GPIB-ENET/100 in the Ethernet Configuration Utility and I can "ping" it successfully. Why does the ibtsta test fail?

Solution:
On Solaris, the GPIB-ENET/100 must be properly identified with the NI 488.2M driver to pass the ibtsta test. Make sure that your GPIB-ENET/100 is identified by running the GPIB Software Configuration Utility (ibconf). In this utility, you must rename the "gpib0" alias listed by default with valid information for your GPIB-ENET/100. To do this:

  1. Press CTRL-R to rename.
  2. Type the IP address, hostname, or hostname alias you are using for the GPIB-ENET/100 and press Enter.
  3. Press CTRL-O to Exit and choose Y to save changes.
  4. Run ibtsta again.
Refer to the product manual linked below for more details.
