Taking Readings From a SCC-AI Module
Hardware: SCC>>Carriers>>SC-2345
Problem: How do I take readings from my SCC-AI module?
Solution: The SCC-AI Series modules are dual-channel, isolated, analog input modules for reading input voltages from ±50 mV to ±42 V.
- Install the SCC-AI module in any slot of the SC-2345. The input signals are routed to two input channels of an E-Series data acquisition (DAQ) device, channels X and X+8, respectively, where X is any channel from 0 through 7 and J(X+1) is the socket on the SC-2345.
- Connect your input signals to pins 1-4 of the SCC-AI module. Pins 1 and 2 form a channel routed to the E-Series DAQ device channel X+8, and pins 3 and 4 form a channel routed to the DAQ device channel X. For example, if you have an SCC-AI03 plugged into slot J1 of the SC-2345, a signal source connected to Input 4 (positive) and Input 3 (negative) of the SCC-AI03 goes to channel 0 of the DAQ board. Similarly, a signal source connected to Input 2 (positive) and Input 1 (negative) of the SCC-AI03 goes to channel 8 of the DAQ device.
- In Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) right-click NI-DAQmx Devices and select Create New NI-DAQmx Device » NI-DAQmx SCC Connector Block » SC-2345. In the SCC Connector Block Configuration window, populate the sockets with their respective modules and press OK. Configuring the SCC system in MAX automatically sets the E-Series analog-input mode to nonreferenced single-ended (NRSE).
