Is There an SCC Module that Can Be Used with an LVDT?

Hardware: SCC>>Modules>>SCC-A10

Problem: I have an LVDT (linear-voltage differential transformer) and I would like to acquire signals through an SCC module. Does National Instruments offer an SCC module for reading LVDTs?

Solution: No. Currently NI does not offer a specific SCC solution for LVDTs or RVDTs (rotary-variable differential transformer). Due to their excitation requirements, the standard AI SCC modules will not work. Two suggested options are:
  1. SCXI-1540 8-Channel LVDT Module
  2. An external LVDT to DC voltage converter
If option 2 is used, then the signal of the LVDT to DC voltage converter could be connected directly to the data acquisition board. However, if SCC is desired, then the user should select the appropriate SCC-AIxx module with input ranges that best match the output ranges of the LVDT to DC converter.
