Problem: I have problems with my VXI-1394 hardware in Windows 2000, because I am using an IEEE 1394 host adapter other than the one that shipped with the VXI-1394 interface. Solution: If you encounter problems with your VXI-1394 in Windows 2000 while using an IEEE 1394 host adapter other than the one that shipped with your VXI-1394 interface, then you may need to change the software setting that indicates the size of the DMA FIFOs (direct memory access first in-first out buffers) on the host adapter. By default in Windows 2000, this setting is appropriate for a host adapter with 2 KB FIFOs; however, you will need to modify the setting, if your FIFOs are smaller (e.g., 1 KB or 512 bytes). The utility available at the Related Link below will assist you with this issue. For a 512 byte FIFO, we suggest using a a value of 456 (0x1c8) with this utility. For a 1 KB FIFO, use 820 (0x334).
