Running Diagnostics on a Serial Board Generates a Control Register Error

Hardware: Serial>>RS-485

Problem: I have installed an AT-485/2 serial board. When I run the diagnostics, only one of the two ports is found. An error is generated that states that there is an overlap in the control registers.

Solution: This issue is likely caused by a resource conflict. To solve this issue, perform the following steps:
  1. Ensure that the board was properly installed. Refer to the installation page linked below.

  2. Go into the device manager or device configuration and verify that the I/O Addresses for each port has a different value.

  3. Try various combinations of addresses and resources.

  4. Verify that there are no resource conflicts.
