Can I Make My PXIe-8130 Into a Dual-Boot Controller? Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>PXIe-8130
Problem: I would like to set up my PXIe-8130 controller so that it can boot into Windows and LabVIEW Real-Time. Is this possible? Solution: In order to make a dual-boot controller, or to install the real-time operating system, the PXIe-8130 must have a Parallel ATA (PATA) hard drive. All PXIe-8130 RT controllers have a PATA hard drive, but only the PXIe-8130 Windows controllers marked with the extended temperature hard drive option have a PATA hard drive. Any PXIe-8130 Windows controllers that do not have the extended temperature option have a Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive. SATA hard drives are not support in any versions of LabVIEW Real-Time (RT) prior to 8.5. In LabVIEW RT 8.5 SATA hard drives are only supported with the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI). Since AHCI is not supported on the chipset used by the PXIe-8130 controllers, the real-time operating system will not support any PXIe-8130 controllers with a SATA hard drive.
