Problem: The Step and Direction inputs on my drive require Step +, Step -, Dir +, and Dir – signals. What are the corresponding outputs on my National Instruments 73xx motion controller? Solution: Connect the 73xx’s Step output to the drive’s Step + input. Connect the 73xx’s Digital Ground output to the drive’s Step – input. Connect the 73xx’s Dir output to the drive’s Dir + input. Connect the 73xx’s Digital Ground output to the drive’s Dir – input. The ground references of each motion controller’s input and output signals are listed in the Motion I/O Signal Connections table in each motion controller’s user manual.
