What Does Error 32800 in a LabVIEW Program with FieldPoint Mean?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Full Development System
Primary Software Version: 7.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: FieldPoint

Problem: I am getting error 32800 (General Server Error) in my LabVIEW program with FieldPoint in the FP Open.vi and/or FP Write.vi. What exactly does this error mean?

Solution: Depending on which FieldPoint VI is returning the error code, it can be caused by a number of situations:

FP Open.vi:
  • The IAK file path is invalid: A correct file path will be similar to the following: C:\Program Files\IAKFILE.iak. Typos are a common reason for a bad file path. A direct copy and paste of the file path is a good way to avoid mistakes.
  • The IAK file does not exist: If you leave the iak file path node on FP Open.vi unwired, LabVIEW will use the last IAK file used by FieldPoint Explorer or Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). If the IAK file has been deleted or moved since that time, LabVIEW will not be able to locate the file. Either create a new IAK file or open FieldPoint Explorer or MAX and re-link to the IAK file's new location.
  • The IAK file can not be loaded: This is a Win NT/2000 user profile problem. See KnowledgeBase 1MGHBVLK linked below.

FP Write.vi

The data array being input to the FP Write.vi does not contain the correct amount of information for the number of channels being targeted. For example, if you are writing to the All channel of an FP-AO-200 (8 channels), then you will need to wire an array of exactly 8 elements to the values input of your FP Write.vi.
