Receiving "authenticode signature not found" Error When Accessing ActiveX Applications with Microsoft Internet Explorer Primary Software: Measurement Studio>>Visual Basic SupportPrimary Software Version: 8.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I created an ActiveX application with Measurement Studio components that is embedded into a web page. However, when I open the web page with Internet Explorer, I receive an error saying "authenticode signature not found". Why does this happen and how can I fix it? Solution: Authenticode is a security feature of Internet Explorer that allows vendors of downloadable executable code (plug-ins or ActiveX controls, for example) to attach digital certificates to their products to assure end users that the code is from the original developer and has not been altered. This security feature lets end users decide for themselves whether to accept or reject software components posted on the Internet before downloading begins. The error message "authenticode signature not found" will appear (depending on internet settings) when a file doesn't have a authenticode signature. Therefore the web browser isn't sure if it can trust this file and thus asks the user what to do. You can fix this problem by setting up the correct Internet permissions as described below.
