How Can I Set LabWindows™/CVI as the Default Program for C Projects?

Primary Software: LabWindows/CVI Development Systems>>Full Development System
Primary Software Version: 9.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have another programming environment other than CVI installed on my machine, but I would like to use CVI to open my .c, .prj, or .cws files. How can I configure these files to open with CVI By default?

Solution:
The default program used to open any file type is determined by Windows. If you would like to change a file to open in CVI by default, you can set this property in Windows through these steps:
  1. Right click one of your CVI project files, then select Open With»Choose Program...

  2. Select LabWindows/CVI Development Environment from the menu in the new window. If the entry is not present, click Browse to navigate to it.

    Note:
You can also use this method to point to a specific version of CVI if you have more than one version installed on the machine, but version changes will not be saved unless the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file checkbox is selected.

  3. If you want to save these settings, verify that the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file checkbox is selected.
This process can also be used to change the default program used for other file types.
