How Can I Install NI-Sync Support for a New Version of LabVIEW?
Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-Sync
Primary Software Version: 3.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I would like to install NI-Sync support for a new version of LabVIEW that released, but the installer does not give the option to install support. Is there a way to temporarily get around this problem until support for this version of LabVIEW is offered with a new release of NI-Sync?
Solution: To install NI-Sync support for a new version of LabVIEW that is not yet supported by the installer, follow these instructions:
- Ensure that you have the most current version of NI-Sync, available from the Drivers and Updates page linked at the end of this document
- Run the NI-Sync installer, and choose to install support for the latest version of LabVIEW in the installation tree
- Download the "niSync 8.6 support.zip" from the link below and un-zip.
- Add LabVIEW 8.6 API Support:
- Copy the folder "niSync" to your LabVIEW 8.6 directory (or the LabVIEW directory you installed in Step 2):
- Copy the file "niSync.chm" to your LabVIEW 8.6 help directory:
- Optional: To add LabVIEW 8.6 Example Finder Support:
- Copy the contents of the folder "BIN" to:
- Shared\Example Finder\1.0\
- Copy the contents of the folder "Examples" to
- Copy the file "lvsyncw.bin4"
- Shared\Example Finder\1.0\Products\LabVIEW\8.6\exbins\english\platform
- Run the new version of LabVIEW, and NI-Sync should now be present in the Functions palette under Measurement I/O»NI-Sync or Instrument I/O»Instrument Drivers»NI-Sync
Note: It is still beneficial to update the NI-Sync driver to the next version that natively offers support for the new version of LabVIEW as this typically includes feature enhancements and bug fixes. NI-Sync 3.1 resolves this issue.
