Virtual Motion Boards and Motion Assistant Primary Software: Motion AssistantPrimary Software Version: 1.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Why am I unable to run a script in Motion Assistant when referencing a virtual board in MAX? Solution: Motion Assistant will generate an error when you attempt to send motion commands to a virtual board. Additionally, the same error is generated if you try to reference a virtual board in LabVIEW. One of the purposes of creating a virtual board is so that you can begin building a script in Motion Assistant. Without having at least the virtual board installed, Motion Assistant will not even allow script generation. Also, virtual boards allow you to export your code to LabVIEW and look at the generated VI. Trying to run either of these (LabVIEW code, Motion Assistant script) will result in an error. In order to create a virtual board in MAX, simply right-click on Devices and Interfaces and choose to "Create New." You can then select NI-Motion devices and choose from a list of available boards. An entry will be created under Devices and Interfaces referencing this virtual board and you'll be able to see the corresponding hardware settings and build scripts in Motion Assistant.
