Using NI-HSDIO Steps in SignalExpress 1.1
Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have a NI-HSDIO device and I would like to use it with SignalExpress. What devices are supported in SignalExpress 1.1 and how do I go about using them.
Solution: SignalExpress 1.1 currently supports the NI 654x, 655x, and 656x HSDIO devices. The NI 653x devices are not currently supported by SignalExpress 1.1 since they are supported by NI-DAQmx rather than NI-HSDIO. To setup steps for your HSDIO device in SignalExpress 1.1, simply follow the process below:
- Disconnect the cable from your digital device.
- Launch SignalExpress and create an empty Project.
- Create an analog waveform using the Create Signal step from the Analog menu.
- Convert the analog signal you created to a digital waveform by using the Convert Analog to Digital step in the Digital»Processing menu.
- Generate the digital waveform with your digital device by using the NI-HSDIO Generate step in the Digital»Generate Signals menu. Configure the device for finite generation using the on-board clock running at 25 MHz.
- Using the NI-HSDIO Acquire step, acquire digital data at the same rate as the generation using the on-board clock and the same channels. You may not see any data being acquired until you synchronize the generation and acquisition to start together (next step).
- In the Trigger tab for the Generation, configure the device to use a Digital Edge trigger, using the acquisition start trigger as the trigger source. You should now be able to acquire the digital data being generated.
- Convert the digital data back into an analog waveform using the Convert Digital to Analog step in the Digital»Processing menu. You should be able to convert it back to the original waveform.
- Save the Project.
Also, here are the locations of a couple of great shipping examples that you can use for reference:
