WLS/ENET-9163 is Undiscoverable Over Ethernet with Static IPPrimary Software: Driver Software>>NI-DAQmxPrimary Software Version: N/A Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)>>Wireless DAQ
Problem: I have my network card configured with a static IP address and I have connected a WLS/ENET-9163 device directly to the card. I am unable to discover the sleeve through MAX and a physical reset of the device does not help. How can I discover and add the sleeve? Solution: All WLS/ENET-9163 devices first look for a DHCP server and when that is not available they will search for a local connection. In this case, the WLS/ENET-9163 device is using a link-local address, defined in Request for Comments: 3927 (see related links), and your computer is set to static. This generally happens because the default static IP address is 192.168.1.xxx while link-local addresses are on the 169.254.xxx.xxx subnet. Due to the fact that they are in different subnets, they cannot talk to each other. You can temporarily add a link-local address by opening the command prompt and typing the command: netsh interface ipv4 add address "Local Area Connection 2" 169.254.1.1.Another option is to disable the static IP and configure the PC to automatically obtain a network address.
