NI-DAQmx Support for Splitting Port 3 on the 8255 PPI

Problem: I am using a device with digital I/O ports that are provided by the 8255 PPI. NI-DAQmx supports this device. Can I split Port 3 into two 4-bit ports?

Solution: Yes, NI-DAQmx supports the splitting of Port 3 on the 8255 PPI. You can configure P3.<0..3> and P3.<4..7> simultaneously for different directions. For example, you can use P3.<0..3> for output at the same time that you use P3.<4..7> for input. The following devices include the 8255 PPI and are supported by NI-DAQmx:
  • PXI-6025E
  • PCI-6025E
  • PXI-6508
  • PCI-DIO-96
  • PCI-6503
