Why Does My FieldPoint VI Require an FP Refnum Input?

Problem:
I'm writing a LabVIEW program, and my FieldPoint Read and Write VIs are asking for a FieldPoint Refnum, but the FieldPoint I/O constants and controls only provide FieldPoint I/O Datatypes. These two datatypes seem to be incompatible, how can I fix this?

Solution:
This problem can occur if you install FieldPoint 4.0 or later, and then overwrite that installation with the much older FieldPoint Explorer software. The newer FieldPoint I/O constants will still be available, but the FieldPoint Read and Write VIs will be overwritten by older versions. In order to fix this problem, perform the following steps:
  1. Uninstall FieldPoint Explorer.
  2. Uninstall any remaining FieldPoint drivers.
  3. Re-Install the latest FieldPoint driver.
