What Does the LED on the Front of my SCXI Chassis Indicate?Hardware: SCXI>>Chassis
Problem: I have an SCXI Chassis and want to know what the LED on the front near the power button means. Does it indicate that the chassis has power or that a certain power rail is working? Solution: SCXI Chassis have power coming from a plug that is then converted into +5 V, V+ and V- power rails. The +5 V rail is used for communication within the chassis and the switching of the multiplexer within the chassis. The V+ and V- power rails are used for powering the signal conditioning circuitry and typically are at a voltage of 18-25 V. SCXI Chassis have a small green LED directly above the power switch that is used to indicate whether the module is powered on. The power for that LED comes from the +5 V power rail. If it is necessary to also monitor the V+ and V- power rails then the SCXI-1600 should be used as it also has an LEDs indicating the status of the V+ and V- power rails. If the +5 V power rail is not working then it will be impossible to communicate with the chassis or the modules. If the V+ of V- power rails are not working then the signal conditioning circuitry will not be powered on, causing all signals to float. If a power rail does not have power, then see Chapter 2 of the SCXI Chassis User Manual for more information on replacement of broken fuses and further power requirement information.
