Why Can’t I Target or Deploy to My FieldPoint Controller in LabVIEW? Primary Software: LabVIEW Run-Time EnginePrimary Software Version: 8.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A Hardware: FieldPoint>>Controllers/Network Modules>>FP-2000
Problem: When I try to target or deploy to my FieldPoint controller within LabVIEW I get an error stating ‘Access Denied: IP address not on access list or password incorrect’. However, I can connect to my controller through Measurement and Automation Explorer and FTP. Solution: When configuring real-time FieldPoint controllers you have the ability to restrict access to the real-time controller. If your computer’s IP is not on this access list, you will not be able to target the device and this error message will occur. If you know the IPs that can target the device, you can manually set your computer’s IP to one of these valid addresses. This should allow you to target the device if you know the password. Once you have targeted the device, you can change the real-time restrictions through LabVIEW. To change the IP access list, complete the following: LabVIEW 8 with FieldPoint 5 1. Create a new project. 2. Add the Real-Time FieldPoint Module to your project. 3. Right click on the controller's name and select Properties. 4. Select User Access and change the Target Access List. To reset the target access list for the FieldPoint controller, the entire contents of the C drive must be erased. To ensure all files are erased, complete the following: 1. Set the controller’s ‘Safe Mode’ dip switch to on (usually dip switch 7) 2. Reset the controller 3. FTP onto the controller 4. Select and delete all files. 5. Set the controller’s ‘Safe Mode’ dip switch to off. 6. Reset the controller After all files have been erased, you must reload the controller’s software. This can be done through Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) by right clicking on your target and selecting Add/Remove Software. If you do not see your controller in MAX please see the user manual for installation help. When you select Add/Remove Software in MAX, it will populate a list of all the software you can install. Select all software you require. Note: When reinstalling the software on a cFP-2000, do not install the Shared Variable software because of memory limitations on the controller.
