Unable to Boot from a SCSI CD-ROM Drive in a VXIpc-870 ControllerHardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>VXI Controllers
Problem: After changing the BOOT sequence in the BIOS of my VXIpc-870 controller, I still cannot boot from a SCSI CD-ROM Drive. However, if the VXIpc-870 controller boots from the internal hard-drive, I can access the CD ROM. Am I missing a step? The BIOS version is 2.06. Solution: The BIOS v2.06 prevents the user to boot from a SCSI-CD-ROM drive. The current workaround is to install version 2.0 of the BIOS. The BIOS V.2.0 is compatible with all the shipping operating systems: Windows 2000/NT/9x. At the Drivers and Updates link in the Related Links section below, you can find two .zip files that correspond to the versions 2.0 and 2.06 of the BIOS (870_200_bios.zip and 870_206_bios.zip respectively). Both .zip files contain an executable and a ReadMe file. Follow the instructions in the ReadMe file to use the executable and load the appropriate version of the BIOS. The differences between the two version are as follows for VXIpc-870:
Version 2.0 Note: The SCSI of the VXIpc-870b controllers works properly with latest BIOS update. After installing the BIOS v.2.0, the following changes need to be made in the BIOS in order for the system to boot from the SCSI CD ROM:
