Why is There a Delay Associated With Some Order Analysis Functions?

Problem:
I am using the Order Analysis functions in the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. Some of the functions seem to take a long time when executing or seem to require a certain amount of input data. What is the cause of this?

Solution:

The order analysis functions perform lots of processing to return accurate data. Because of this, certain functions require a certain amount of input data before it can give a valid output result. The amount of delay usually depends on the input configuration of the function. Below are the functions which require a certain amout of input data and a table for each with the amount of delay that can be expected.

OAT Analog Tacho Process:
When the Analog Tacho Process function is used, it requires 4 input pulses before it can return a speed profile.


OAT Convert to Even Angle Signal:
The number of input pulses and amount of delay from the Convert to Even Angle Signal function will depend on the inputs for analysis method, pulse/revolution, max order, and zero delay. The differences for a fast versus accurate analysis method can be found in the table below.

Order Magnitude and Phase:
The Order Magnitude and Phase function has inputs for zero delay and bandwidth. A combination of these will affect the number of pulses needed to return valid data.
