Can I Use a SHC68-68-EPM Cable Instead of the SHC68-C68-D2 for my HSDIO Device?Hardware: Digital I/O (DIO), Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed
Problem: When attempting to configure my system for a 654X or 655X device, I see that I need to use a SHC68-C68-D2 68-pin cable that appears to have the same dimensions as the less expensive SHC68-68-EPM (M Series Style) cable. Can I simply use the SHC68-68-EPM (M Series Style) cable instead? Solution: While the physical dimensions of both the SHC68-68-EPM (M Series Style) and the SHC68-C68-D2 have a smaller C68 connector on one end, the SHC68-68-EPM has a larger SCSI-68 pin connector on the other end preventing it from being used with other HSDIO boards. The NI SHC68-C68-D2 is a shielded 50 Ω cable designed to preserve signal quality through impedance matching and minimal crosstalk with the NI 654X and NI 655X devices. If a SHC68-68-EPM was used in its place, then signal degradation could occur, particularly at higher frequencies.
