What is the Daisy Chain Index?Hardware: SCXI
Problem: When I daisy chain multiple SCXI chassis, I am required to select a different address for each chassis as well as a daisy chain index. What's the difference? Solution: The daisy chain index is the chassis's location with respect to the DAQ card. If it is the closest chassis to the card, its index would be 0, if its the second closest, it's index will be 1. This will also be the channel of the DAQ card onto which the chassis's channels are multiplexed. A daisy chain index of 1 means that the chassis is the second chassis from the DAQ card, and all of the channels being scanned in the chassis will be multiplexed onto channel 1 of the DAQ card. The address of the chassis does not need to match the daisy chain index. The only requirement is that the address of each chassis be unique so that they do not try to use the same resources. Below is an example of an acceptable configuration for 3 daisy-chained SCXI chassis:
