Problem: Is there an order I must follow when installing NI-RFSG, NI-RFSA, the Spectral Measurements Toolkit, and the Modulation Toolkit? After installation, the RF examples seem to be in multiple locations. How do I know where to find a particular example? Solution: The only requirement is to install all driver software prior to Toolkit layer software. The Modulation Toolkit (MT) detects what drivers are present and will install examples for detected HW use cases based upon that. So, if MT detects NI-RFSG, it will install NI-RFSG examples for use with the NI PXI-5670, NI PXI-5671, and NI PXIe-5672. Other drivers MT looks for are NI-SCOPE for digitizer-only use cases (no downconverter), and NI-FGEN for arb-only use cases (no upconverter). The recommended order is shown below.¹
¹The Spectral Measurements Toolkit must be installed after NI-RFSA. Install the Modulation Toolkit after installing NI-RFSG and NI-RFSA. The Modulation Toolkit will determine which drivers you have installed before including examples. If you have difficulty locating modulation examples, verify the NI-RFSG and NI-RFSA drivers are installed, and uninstall/reinstall the Modulation Toolkit. The RF examples are separated according to content. The examples include scripting, triggering, multi-tone generation, upconverter-only mode, and so on. For NI 5670/5671/5672 examples producing modulated signals, refer to the Modulation Toolkit examples. NI-RFSA examples C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW\examples\instr\ni5660 There is no Start menu path to NI 5660 examples. Use the LabVIEW Example Finder and search for ni5660. Navigate to this folder for examples demonstrating the NI 5660 VIs. The examples include both spectral measurements and IQ data acquisition.
