NI-RFSG, NI-RFSA, Spectral Measurements Toolkit, and Modulation Toolkit - Installation and Examples

Problem:
Is there an order I must follow when installing RF software, including NI-RFSG, NI-RFSA, the Spectral Measurements Toolkit, and the Modulation Toolkit? After installation, the RF examples seem to be in multiple locations. How do I know where to find a particular example?

Solution:
The only requirement is to install all driver software prior to Toolkit layer software. The Modulation Toolkit (MT) detects what drivers are present and will install examples for the installed drivers. So, if MT detects NI-RFSG, it will install NI-RFSG examples for use with the NI PXI-5670, NI PXI-5671, NI PXIe-5672, and NI PXIe-5673. Other drivers that MT looks for are NI-SCOPE for digitizer-only use cases (no downconverter), NI-FGEN for arb-only use cases (no upconverter), and NI-RFSA for our signal analyzers.

The recommended order of installation is shown below.¹
  1. NI-RFSG
  2. NI-RFSA
  3. Spectral Measurements Toolkit
  4. Modulation Toolkit
¹The Spectral Measurements Toolkit must be installed after NI-RFSA. Install the Modulation Toolkit after installing NI-RFSG and NI-RFSA. The Modulation Toolkit will determine which drivers you have installed before including examples. If you have difficulty locating modulation examples, verify the NI-RFSG and NI-RFSA drivers are installed, and uninstall/reinstall the Modulation Toolkit.

The RF examples are separated according to content.
