Remote Client Computer Running LabVIEW 7.1 Will Not Connect to NI VLM ServerPrimary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 2.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Professional Development System
Problem: I have a remote client computer running LabVIEW 7.1 that will not connect to my NI Volume License Manager (VLM) server. Clients running LabVIEW 8.2 are not experiencing this problem. Solution: LabVIEW 7.1 has a shorter timeout than LabVIEW 8.2 when retrieving license information from a server configured in the default port range. This explains why LabVIEW 8.2 can connect while 7.1 cannot in higher latency situations, such as at a remote site. To get around this, you can set up the server outside the default port range and LabVIEW 7.1 will wait longer to get the license information. The default port range is between ports 27000 and 27009. See the KnowledgeBase articles below for more information on configuring the ports.
