Why Do I Get FLEXlm Erorr -8,130 After Upgrading to MATRIXx 7.1.3?
Primary Software: MATRIXx
Primary Software Version: 7.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: After I upgraded to MATRIXx 7.1.3 and updated the license file, I now get a license error as I start Xmath. It says "Xmath" license error: Invalid (inconsistent) license key. The license-key and data for the feature do not match. This usually happens when a license file has been altered. FLEXlm error: -8,130. I can start MATRIXx 7.1.3, but MATRIXx 7.1.1 and MATRIXx 7.1.2 give the above error message.
Solution: MATRIXx 7.1.3 implemented a change in the feature line to support borrowing of license files. See the related link. If Borrowing is not needed then MATRIXx 7.1.3 can be used with the old license format. If Borrowing is needed MATRIXx 7.1.2 can be set to understand the new format.
- If Borrowing is Needed
The license file needs to be in the new format. MATRIXx 7.1.1 can not understand this format. MATRIXx 7.1.2 by default assumes the license file to be in the old format, however by defining the environment variable MTXNEWLICENSEFORMAT=1 it will assume the new license file Once set MATRIXx 7.1.2 will only understand the new format. In order to switch back to the old format you will need to undefine the environment variable.
- Without Borrowing
A license file in the old format can be created that is understood by all versions of MATRIXx 7.1. From the NILM directory execute the engine command with the -oldformat switch. The engine command is in the NILM directory in Windows and in NILM/bin.solaris in Unix. For example
engine -nolog -oldformat MTXHOME NIREFNUM AUTHKEY CHECKSUM HOSTNAME
MATRIXx 7.1.3 automatically switches between the two formats. MATRIXx 7.1.2 can read either format (depending on if the MTXNEWLICENSEFORMAT environment variable is defined or not), but does not automatically switch between them. MATRIXx 7.1.1 can only read the old format.
