Where can I find the Microsoft tools I need for the LabVIEW Mobile Module?

Note: The LabVIEW Mobile Module was formerly known as the LabVIEW PDA Module.

Refer to the version-specific sections below for information about downloading the necessary tools.

LabVIEW 8.6 Mobile Module (and later)

The LabVIEW 8.6 Mobile Module (and later) includes the necessary Microsoft tools. The Mobile Module installs ARM Pocket PC and Windows Mobile targets. You only need to download and install the following additional Microsoft tools if you need x86 emulator targets:

Note: If you are upgrading from version 8.0 or later of the PDA Module, you probably already have the additional tools.

LabVIEW 8.5 PDA Module

The LabVIEW 8.5 PDA Module for Windows Mobile includes the necessary Microsoft tools. The PDA Module installs ARM Pocket PC and Windows Mobile targets. You only need to download and install the following additional Microsoft tools if you need x86 emulator targets:

Note: If you are upgrading from version 8.0 or later of the PDA Module, you probably already have the additional tools.

LabVIEW 8.20 PDA Module (including 8.2.1)

The LabVIEW 8.20 PDA Module for Windows Mobile, including version 8.2.1, includes the necessary Microsoft tools. The PDA Module installs ARM Pocket PC and Windows Mobile targets. You only need to download and install the following additional Microsoft tools if you need x86 emulator targets:

Note: If you are upgrading from version 8.0 or later of the PDA Module, you probably already have the additional tools.

LabVIEW 8.0.1 PDA Module

The LabVIEW 8.0.1 PDA Module for Pocket PC enables creating, building, deploying, running, and debugging PDA applications on Windows Mobile 5.0 and Pocket PC 2003 devices. You must install the following tools to enable support for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices:

  • Visual Studio 2005 Standard or Professional Edition
  • ActiveSync 4.1 or later
  • Windows Mobile 5.0 SDK for Pocket PC
  • Visual Studio 2005 Device Command Shell (DCS)

Note: If you do not need support for Windows Mobile 5.0, the Microsoft tools you use with the LabVIEW 8.0 PDA Module are still supported. Visual Studio 2005 is not free software; however, Visual Studio is required to add Windows Mobile 5.0-specific features to version 8.0 of the PDA Module.

LabVIEW 8.0 PDA Module

You can download the necessary software from the Microsoft Web site. Download the following required components:

Applications you build with version 8.0 of the PDA Module run on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices.

Note: The CD key required for installation is located at the bottom of the download page on the Microsoft Web site.

LabVIEW 7.1 PDA Module

The Microsoft Mobile Developers Resource Kit DVD, which contains the Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 tools, is included with the LabVIEW 7.1 PDA Module for Pocket PC. If you do not have the DVD or access to a DVD-ROM player, you can download the necessary software from the Mobile and Embedded Application Developer site. Download the following required components:

LabVIEW 7.0 PDA Module

The Microsoft eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 - 2002 Edition CD is included with the LabVIEW 7.0 PDA Module for Pocket PC. If you do not have the CD, refer to the Microsoft Web site to download the necessary software. The separate Software Development Kits (SDKs) available for download on the Microsoft Web site are not required to install the LabVIEW 7.0 PDA Module.
