How Do I Log Images and Data in Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI)?

Primary Software: Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have an inspection in Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI) where I am taking several measurements. I would like to log this data and save the images I am analyzing. How can I log data and images in VBAI?

Solution:
By using the Data Logging step in VBAI you can specify which measurements (including System Variables) to write to file, what kind of file to create and where to save this file.

Similarly, by using the Image Logging step in VBAI you can specify which step to save the image, what image file format to create, and where to save this file.

To save images in VBAI, please complete the following steps:
  1. Add the Data Logging (or Image Logging) step from the Inspection Steps: Use Additional Tools tab.
  2. Reference the Context Help to configure this step. Context Help can be located two ways: select Help»Show Context Help or click the Context Help button

VBAI 2.6 and earlier

Select Tools»Configure Input/Outputs.... In the Inspection Output section, place a check-mark in the box next to Data Logging (or Image Logging) by double-clicking this option. This will also highlight Data Logging (Image Logging) in blue. Click the Setup... button.

Press the Help button for information on configuring this step.
