Styles3D Dependency Problem

Hello,

I've been trying to deploy an app using Measurement Studio .NET controls, and I have had good success on Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, however, when I try to deploy my app to NT 4.0 SP 6a (with the latest .NET Framework 1.1 and MDAC), I get the error: "File or assembly name NationalInstruments.UI.Styles3D, or one of its depencencies, was not found" It's a FileNotFoundException on NationalInstruments.UI.Styles3D.

Yes, I have looked at NI KB# 3C9F0AX0, and I have included those 2 merge modules in my Visual Studio Setup project.

Deploying another application without 3D styles, for instance a form with a 2D tank control, works fine.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Matt,

Measurement Studio for Visual Studio .NET is officially supported for Windows 2000 and XP. This is the case for both development and distribution. Some features of a distributed application may work in 98 and NT, while others won’t work, as you have seen.

You are including the correct merge modules so that Styles3D will have its dependencies installed. Given that your distributed application works on your 2000 and XP machines, I would say you are building your installer correctly.

The following help topic includes a section on the system requirements for distribution.

Thanks, Eric,

That answers my question and helps us write our system requirements for redistribution.
