How to Modify the NI 8352/8353 Rack-Mount Kit to Fit Racks Less Than 26” Deep

Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>NI 8353, PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers>>NI 8352

Problem:
The location I have for my rack-mount controller is smaller than 26" deep.  How do I adjust the 8352/8353 rack-mount kit for this?

Solution:
The rack-mount kit provided with the NI 8352 and NI 8353 will accommodate racks with depths between 26” and 33”. To modify the rack-mount kit to fit a rack less than 26” deep, follow these instructions.

1. Cut the piece shown in Figure 1 below to approximately 1” less than the depth of your rack.

2. Using an 8-32 screw and 8-32 hex nut (not provided), loosely attach the right angle bracket as shown in Figure 2 below. Adjust the overall length of the assembly to match the depth of your rack. Tighten the screw.
   
   Alternatively, for increased stability, you may drill holes in the brackets above and below the slot and fasten them together with screws and hex nuts.

3. Install the assembled rail in your rack. See Figure 3.

4. Slide the NI 8352/8353 into the rails.
