How Do I Install a PXI-GPIB Card Under Windows NT In A PXI Chassis Controlled By a MXI-3 Card?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: N/A
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PCI-GPIB, GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>PXI-GPIB

Problem:
How do I install a PXI-GPIB card under Windows NT in a PXI chassis controlled by a MXI-3 card? My PXI-GPIB card does not appear in MAX or the driver seems to be incorrectly installed.

Solution:
To install a PXI-GPIB card only on Windows NT, please carefully follow these steps. Pay close attention to step #9.
  1. Remove any previous versions of NI-488.2.
  2. When logged in as an Administrator, install NI-488.2 version 1.7 before the PXI-GPIB card is installed - follow the link below to the GPIB software download page.
  3. Power down your computer.
  4. Insert the PXI-GPIB card into the PXI chassis controlled by a MXI-3 card.
  5. Power on your PXI chassis.
  6. Power on your computer running Windows NT. It is important that your PXI chassis is running before this step.
  7. The GPIB configuration utility should automatically appear. The GPIB Configuration utility displays a list of all the GPIB boards and device names. If the utility does not appear, go to Start » Settings »Control Panel and double-click on the GPIB icon. The GPIB Configuration utility displays a list of all the GPIB boards and device names.
  8. In the GPIB Configuration dialog box, select a GPIB interface from the GPIB Board list. Select GPIB0.
  9. Click on the Board Type button. The PXI-GPIB and PMC-GPIB are compatible with the PCI-GPIB, so select PCI-GPIB from the list that appears. Click on the OK button. Note: It is important that you select PCI-GPIB and not PXI-GPIB.
You can now open Measurement & Automation Explorer. After hitting to refresh, you should see your GPIB card under Devices and Interfaces. After connecting your PXI-GPIB card to a powered-on 488.2 compliant instrument, right-click on your GPIB card and select Scan for Instruments. You instrument should now appear. For additional help, please see the attached Getting Started link.
