NI Vision Development Module 8.0 Installer Crashes on a Computer That Has LabVIEW 8.20 Primary Software: Vision Development ModulePrimary Software Version: N/A Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I am trying to install NI Vision Development Module 8.0 for LabVIEW 8.0. However my computer also has LabVIEW 8.20 Installed. The install breaks with an error. How can I complete the installation? Solution: It is a known issue that Vision 8.0 will not install support for LabVIEW 8.20. However, even if you have LabVIEW 8.20 installed on the computer and are trying to install NI Vision Development Module for other ADEs (eg. LabVIEW 8.0), the installer will report an error and then crash.(See attachment error.jpg). There is a workaround for this issue. In the Feature Selection dialog of the installer (You must select a custom install to get to this window), the Vision 8.0 installer has a category entitled "Latest LabVIEW Support". See the attachment entitled installer.jpg for a preview of this option. This category MUST be set to Do Not Install This Feature. All other versions of LabVIEW have their own subcategory (LabVIEW 7.1, LabVIEW 8.0, etc..) Once this option is set to Do Not Install This Feature, then Vision 8.0 will install correctly. That is, it will install support for versions of LabVIEW prior to LabVIEW 8.20. Vision Development Module 8.20 is a free upgrade for users with valid VDM 8.0 licenses.
