Citadel Database and LogosPrimary Software: LookoutPrimary Software Version: 5.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: If I use an ODBC-compliant software application (like Microsoft Access) to view a Citadel database on a remote machine, do I need Logos installed on all machines? Solution: To read data from a remote Citadel database, you must install the Logos services on both the local computer and the remote computer. You can then read the Citadel database from that remote computer. When you install Lookout and/or the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control module, the Logos Services are also installed. This installation includes three services: Time Service (for time synchronization), Citadel Service (for historical datalogging) and the Classified Ads service. In addition to installing the Logos services, these applications also install the Citadel database. This database is an ODBC compliant database used to log all data, alarms and events from Lookout and the LabVIEW DSC module. Any ODBC-compliant software will use the Citadel driver to communicate with the Citadel database. This driver communicates with the Logos services on the current machine. The Logos services on the current machine then search the network and can communicate with any other Logos services on the network.
