How Does the IVI State Caching Attribute Model Handle Dependencies between Different Attributes?

Primary Software: Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Compliance Package
Primary Software Version: 3.2
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Class Driver, Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Specific Driver

Problem: How does the IVI state caching attribute model handle dependencies between different attributes?

Solution: Many instruments will have several attributes, which will change the states of other, related attributes when they are changed. An IVI instrument driver must contain information about these dependencies. They can be set through the IVI attribute editor when creating an IVI instrument driver. This tells the IVI engine to invalidate the current state of all attributes that depend on a certain attribute when it is changed. Thus, the IVI Instrument Specific Driver will be sure to perform I/O to update the state of the dependent attributes the next time they are accessed.
