Why Does LabVIEW 8.5 Crash When I Run the ActiveX Example With VBAI 3.5?

Problem:
I am running the SimpleExampleCW.vi, an ActiveX example that came with Vision Builder for Automated Inspection 3.5. When I stop the VI, LabVIEW 8.5 crashes. Why does this happen?

Solution:
This is a known issue with LabVIEW 8.5 and the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection 3.5. It was reported to R&D (#4EN7K352) for further investigation. There is currently no known workaround for this issue in LabVIEW 8.5. This error does not appear in any other version of LabVIEW.
