"File Format No Longer Supported" Error with Measure Primary Software: Other NI Software>>MeasurePrimary Software Version: 1.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have been using Excel 5.0c on Windows 3.1 and Measure with no problems. Then I installed the full version of Microsoft Office and when I tried to access "Serial.xla", I received a "File Format No Longer Supported" Error. I tried reinstalling Measure, but that didn't work. Solution: This problem is due to the fact that the version of Microsoft Office installed (4.2, e.g.) is older than the version of Excel (5.0c) that was previously being used. When the older version of Office was installed, some necessary DLLs for Measure were overwritten. You can solve the problem by uninstalling Office and reinstalling the original (newer) version of Excel. Hopefully you had some backups of your autoexec.bat, win.ini, and config.sys files, which would have also been altered by the Office installation. If you didn't have backups, then go into each of these files and delete any references to Office you see before reinstalling Excel.
