How Can I Easily Search for Footprints in Multisim?

Primary Software: Electronics Workbench>>Multisim
Primary Software Version: 8.2.5
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: In Multisim I am creating a new component through the Component Wizard. In Step 2, when I am selecting a footprint for my component, is there an easy way to filter through the database for a particular footprint?

Solution: To filter through the database for footprints during the component creation process:
  1. In step 2 of the component creation wizard click on the Select a Footprint button.
  2. In the Select a Footprint dialog box select the database to be searched and then click the Filter button (circled in red in Figure 1 below).
  3. In the Filter dialog box click the Add Row button.
  4. Select the box under the Column heading and in the dropdown box select the appropriate identifier you wish to search under. In this case the search is for Footprint
  5. Select the Operator column and select the necessary operator. In this case select the '=' operator. If this was a situation where you only knew a part of the Footprint name then you would select the Contains operator which will search for a particular string.
  6. Type the footprint being searched for in the Value column.
  7. Click the OK button.

Multisim will now filter through the database and significantly speed up the search for any footprint. This same basic process can be used when you are editing a pre-existing component and you need to search for a new footprint.
