GPIB-1014 Timing Problem with Sparc 10HS-66-32 Boards Hardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>GPIB-1014
Problem: When I use revisions C or D of the GPIB-1014 VME controller to communicate with Sparc 10HS-66-32 VME cards, I don't seem to have any problems performing GPIB reads and writes. However, when I replace the GPIB-1014 card with a revision F or G, it has problems performing GPIB reads and writes. NI-488 for SunOS is used to control the GPIB-1014s. Revisions F and G of these boards will return EADR errors, whereas (in the exact same setup) the revision C and D cards communicate successfully. Why is this happening? Do Revisions F and G of the GPIB-1014 Boards Have a Timing Problem with Sparc 10HS-66-32 Boards? Solution: This problem has been isolated by the Themis company. Apparently the MB86986B had no problems. Sparc has modified its design of the Sparc 10HS-66-32 to work with the MB86986C and that has fixed the problem. If you have a Sparc 10HS, then you should contact Themis for an upgrade. Themis is phasing out the Sparc 10HS. Related Links: Attachments:
