Why Can I Not Install LabVIEW Real-Time 8.20 on My cRIO-9014 Controller from Measurement and Automation Explorer?

Problem:
I currently have LabVIEW 8.20 and have received a cRIO-9014 controller. I have been using it for several months and have recently re-formatted the controller and find I am now unable to install software from Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Why can I not install LabVIEW Real-Time 8.20 on my cRIO-9014 controller from MAX?

Solution:
You cannot install software to the cRIO-9014 controller using MAX unless you have LabVIEW Real-Time 8.2.1 or later installed on your computer. If you need to reinstall software on the cRIO-9014 controller, format the disk on the controller and FTP the contents of the 9014 folder on the second installer CD to the controller. You can also FTP the contents of attached cRIO-9014 Image below to reinstall software on the cRIO-9014 controller.

NI-RIO 2.1.1 includes support for the LabVIEW Real-Time System Replication Tools, which provide a LabVIEW API with functionality to create an image of a Real-Time target as well as replicate a target with a stored image. The Replication Tools also provide the ability to find a target, retrieve information about the target, and format targets that support remote formatting. You can use the System Replication VIs and the System Replication executable to deploy many Real-Time systems or to back up and reinstall a Real-Time system in the field where multiple copies of MAX or the LabVIEW development system may not be available.
