  • LabVIEW 8.5. Note that some examples might not work properly if you do not have the LabVIEW 8.5 Full or Professional Development Systems.

What's New in the PID Control Toolkit 8.5

The LabVIEW 8.5 PID Control Toolkit includes the following new features:

  • Support for multi-channel PID on FPGA targets using the PID (FPGA) Express VI.

Installation/Upgrading Instructions

If you have installed an earlier version of the LabVIEW PID Control Toolkit, installing version 8.5 uninstalls this earlier version.

Complete the following steps to install the LabVIEW 8.5 PID Control Toolkit.

  1. Insert the LabVIEW 8.5 PID Control Toolkit installation CD.
  2. Run the setup.exe program.
  3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Accessing the Help and Examples

The LabVIEW PID Control Toolkit User Manual contains conceptual information about using the PID Control Toolkit. Complete the following steps to access this manual.

  1. Click Start»All Programs»National Instruments»LabVIEW 8.5»LabVIEW Manuals.
  2. Double-click PID_User_Manual.pdf.

Complete the following steps to access reference information about the PID Control VIs and functions.

  1. Launch LabVIEW.
  2. Select Help»Search the LabVIEW Help.
  3. Using the Contents tab, navigate to Toolkits»PID Control Toolkit.

The LabVIEW PID Control Toolkit examples are located in the labview\examples\control\ directory.

Known Issues

The LabVIEW 8.5 PID Control Toolkit includes the following known issues:

  • Some VIs break if you do not have the LabVIEW FPGA Module installed. The PID Control Toolkit depends on certain VIs in the FPGA Module, so if you mass compile the PID Control Toolkit, certain VIs break.
