Problem: I am using a DSA board with NI-DAQmx and I am trying to configure both an analog start and reference trigger on the same analog channel while using different trigger conditions. When I try this, I cannot configure two different slopes for the respective start and reference triggers. The slope is always set to the same value as the as the last trigger that has been configured. What is the problem and how can I overcome it? Solution: What you are trying to do is not possible in hardware. There is only one analog trigger circuit on the DSA board. You can use the output of the analog trigger circuit for multiple triggering purposes (e.g. start and reference) but the analog settings for the trigger condition must be identical for all triggers. This is why the analog trigger works as both a start and reference trigger but it only honors one set of trigger conditions (the last to be configured). For digital triggers, there are separate polarity selections in hardware that can be configured for both the start and reference trigger. This allows you to use a digital trigger for both the start and reference trigger and trigger on alternate edges. Note: You cannot use a digital trigger as the source for one trigger and an analog trigger as the source for the other (the driver will return an error in this case). This is a limitation is that at the core of the device, as there is only one digital trigger source terminal. The source of this digital terminal can either be the output of the analog trigger circuit or PFI0 on the I/O connector. In summary, you cannot set different trigger conditions for multiple analog triggers, but you can for digital triggers. Related Links: Dynamic Signal Analyzers (DSA) Support Attachments:
