Why Do I Get Error 1075 when Trying to Start the National Instruments mDNS Responder Service?

Problem:
I want to start the National Instruments mDNS Responder Service or one of its dependencies. When I try to start it, I get the following message:

Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or had been marked for deletion.




How can I get rid of this error and start the service?

Solution:
The error indicates that one or more services cannot be located, have been deleted, or are corrupt.

To correct this, repair Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX); this will ensure that all of MAX's dependencies are installed and/or repaired appropriately. From your start menu, select Control Panel. Once the control panel opens, double click Programs and Features



From the Uninstall or change a program list, find and double-click National Instruments Software.



From the National Instruments Software window, scroll to find NI Measurement & Automation Explorer. Select it and click Repair.

Repair Measurement and Automation Explorer (Windows 7)

After the repair you will be prompted to re-start your computer. Once restarted, the service should be properly installed and can be started without error.
