Why Is LabVIEW RT 8.20 on My cRIO Controller but Not on My Host? Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-RIOPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time Module Hardware: Compact FieldPoint>>Controllers
Problem: LabVIEW RT 8.20 is installed on my cRIO controller, but I am using LabVIEW RT 8.0 or previous on my host PC. How did this version get there and how can I change it back? Solution: The NI-RIO 2.1 driver can install LV 8.20 Real-Time support files for CompactRIO targets onto the host PC even if LabVIEW 8.20 is not installed if you do a custom installation and explicitly add this feature. As a result, LabVIEW RT 8.20 will be listed as a software installation option on CompactRIO targets in the Add/Remove Software dialog for CompactRIO remote systems in MAX. When changing any software on the controller via Add/Remove Software the newest version of LabVIEW Real-Time available is automatically selected to be downloaded to the target by default, and this is how the controller can get a newer version of LabVIEW Real-Time than what is on the host. During future controller software changes, remember to manually select the correct version of the LabVIEW Real-Time driver for your target after your have made the selections for the other software to be added/removed. To reinstall the previous version of LabVIEW Real-Time to the cRIO controller you should be able to choose the previous version to install in the Add/Remove Software dialog for the remote cRIO system.
