What Does the Maximum Carry Current Specification Mean for Switch Modules?Hardware: Switches
Problem: Some switch modules specify a maximum carry current in addition to the maximum switching current. For example, the PXI-2503 specifies a maximum current of 1A per channel. Does this mean I can connect COM to my power supply and and draw 1A from 2 channels simultaneously? Solution: A channel is defined as the entire path of the signal from one endpoint to another. In this case, the common pin (COM) can only have 1A on it at any given time. The maximum carry current should not be exceeded at any given point within the switch module.
