What is an Avalanche Diode and Why Do I Read a Negative Voltage?

Problem: Why do I measure a negative voltage when using an avalanche diode? Can I fix this in software?

Solution: An Avalanche Diode is a diode that is designed to break down and conduct at a specified reverse bias voltage. This means that you will be reading a negative voltage.

Yes, you can use software to condition this and make it positive. Please see the attached example.
