Causes of EDVR Error on the GPIB-ENET Device

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 1.7
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET/100, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>GPIB-ENET/100, GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-ENET, Instrument Connectivity Other>>Ethernet>>GPIB-ENET

Problem:
What might cause an EDVR error, when I am working with a GPIB-ENET device?

Solution:
GPIB-ENET can return various EDVR errors. Here are three errors that are fairly common:

  • 0xE100004E (incompatible firmware)
  • 0xE1062736 (Winsock error code: The descriptor is not a socket.)
  • 0xE106274D (Winsock error code: The attempt to connect was forcefully rejected.)

These three (and possibly others) may come out at different times using the same GPIB-ENET. All three of these could be caused by an IP Address conflict with another piece of hardware on the same Network. When using the GPIB-ENET, verify that the IP Address you are using is valid and unique.
