How to Add Key Navigation for Front Panel Controls

Primary Software:
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I want to be able to control my VI by using the keyboard. How can I map a key to a front panel control?

Solution:
To map keys to a front panel control use Key Navigation in the properties window.
Right-click on the control and select Properties, then go to the Key Navigation Tab.

In this example you could use the Insert key to set focus then toggle the button with the Enter Key. You can also directly toggle the button with the escape key.

The snippet below uses Key Navigation to increment and decrement the numeric control and the escape key to toggle the Exit button and stop the VI. There is also an example that uses Key Navigation in the Related Links.
