Using LabVIEW Internet Toolkit on Mac OS X with LabVIEW 7 Express

Problem: Is LabVIEW Internet Toolkit 5.0 compatible with LabVIEW 7 on Mac OS X?

Solution: You can use Internet Toolkit 5.0 with LabVIEW 7.0 on Mac OS X. However, the Internet Toolkit installer is a Mac OS 9 application, so you must install the toolkit on a computer with LabVIEW on Mac OS 9.x or earlier. The LabVIEW 7 Express CD includes Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x installers.

After you install the Internet Toolkit on Mac OS 9.x, copy the toolkit files to the LabVIEW 7 directory on Mac OS X. The following directories contain toolkit files to copy:
  • LabVIEW 7.0\vi.lib\addons\internet

  • LabVIEW 7.0\internet

  • LabVIEW 7.0\project\internet

  • LabVIEW 7.0\examples\internet

Note  Internet Toolkit 5.0 help files for Mac OS use the QuickHelp application, which is a Mac OS 9 application that might not function correctly on Mac OS X. Refer to KnowledgeBase entry 2TRGCC00 (linked below) for a PDF version of the Internet Toolkit help.

You can install and run LabVIEW Internet Toolkit 6.0 on Mac OS X with no special installation instructions.

The LabVIEW Internet Toolkit expands the functionality of LabVIEW to include native interaction with popular internet protocols. Developers can easily utilize the existing internet infrastructure to remotely interact with VIs, transfer acquired data, and even serve and password protect sensitive information using the included G Web Server and CGI functionality. The LabVIEW Internet Toolkit is sold separately or in the LabVIEW Enterprise Connectivity Toolset along with the LabVIEW SPC Toolkit and the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset.
