What Features Are Available with Different Types of Licensing Models?

Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License Manager
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
What licensing features are available for each licensing model? Also, how do these features compare if I am using Volume License Manager (VLM) or FLEXnet?

Solution:
Here is a chart that shows what features are available depending on which license you have. Please take note of the superscripts and their respective notes below the image.

    1. Each time a client successfully checks out a license from the server, temporary license files are created on the client computer. If the client cannot connect to the server in the future, the temporary license file will be transformed to expire in 14 days. The file will be renewed the next time the client successfully checks out a license from the server. If VLM is installed on the client computer, temporary license files are not going to be created.
    2. If you only have computer-based licenses, you can still create home licenses, but you must copy the computer to a new user and then create a license. See KnowledgeBase 3V6JPS8M below.
    3. If you only have named-user licenses, you can still create home licenses, but you must copy the user to a new computer and then create a license. See KnowledgeBase 3V6IER8M below.
    4. To assign permissions to FLEXnet, you must manually edit the options file, which is a text file containing a list of available products and the users/computer that are allowed to use that product.
