Communicating with Fieldbus Devices from HMI/SCADA Packages, Basic Programs, or C Programs Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-FBUSPrimary Software Version: 2.3.5 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Fieldbus offers an open hardware standard that many vendors can use, but how can I communicate with Fieldbus devices from my software? Solution: The best solution is to use OLE for Process Control (OPC), which will allow you to communicate with the Fieldbus devices. Version 2.3.5 of the Foundation Fieldbus Configurator (the driver software for the AT-FBUS and PCMCIA-FBUS devices) also acts as an OPC server. When the Foundation Fieldbus Configurator is running OPC clients, browse the server to see what devices are on the network, and what function block parameters are available to read/write. If you have version 2.3 of the Foundation Fieldbus Configurator there is a free upgrade from 2.3 to 2.3.5 available at the first Related Link below. If you only have the Foundation Fieldbus Communications Manager there is an update to version 2.3.5 available at the second Related Link below.
