How Do I Determine if My MXI-2 Module is Asserting SYSFAIL?Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces>>VME-MXI-2
Problem: While using some VXI and VME modules, one of the devices is asserting SYSFAIL on the backplane. Because the VXI-MXI-2 and VME-MXI-2 modules do not have a separate FAIL LED indicator, how do I determine whether one of these devices is asserting SYSFAIL? Solution: For both the VXI-MXI-2 and the VME-MXI-2, you can determine whether these modules are asserting SYSFAIL by checking the DSYSFAIL bit status. If the DSYSFAIL bit is set to 1, the MXI-2 module is driving the SYSFAIL line high. DSYSFAIL is bit 9 at offset 20 of the A16 VXI configuration registers for the VXI (or VME) MXI-2 module. Offset 20 of the configuration register is the VXI-MXI-2 Status Register (VMSR). Use the VISA Interactive Control utility to perform this check or use the viIN() function to check it programmatically. Refer to the Register Descriptions chapter in the user manuals linked below for more information about the VXI-MXI-2 or VME-MXI-2 configuration registers.
